We have a population of 729 people living in the Panguru district, with an additional 3,638 registered marae members living outside the Hokianga area. Our hapu response plan covers six rural marae communities, namely: Mātihetihe, Waiparera, Waihou Nui A Rua, Waipuna, Ngāti Manawa and Motuti, all located in an isolated area on the north side of Hokianga Harbour in the Far North region. The Whakarapa Stream flows from the Panguru Range in the Warawara Forest to the west, it covers the western side of the area between Hokianga Harbour and Whangape Harbour, including the locality of Matihetihe, Hokianga North. Panguru is a community in the northern Hokianga harbour, in Northland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
